PERLENGKAPAN PENENTUAN POSISI KAPAL
Perlengkapan penentuan posisi secara umum terbagi dalam dua kategori, yaitu perlengkapan penentuan posisi dengan menggunakan peralatan penentuan posisi biasa (common position fixing equipment) dan dengan menggunakan peralatan penentuan posisi elektronik (electronic position fixing equipment)

Radar (Range and Direction); digunakan untuk menentukan posisi dengan sistem baringan dan jarak. Alat ini juga dapat digunakan dalam menghindari kapal dari bahaya tubrukan dengan kapal lain dengan menggunakan sistem pemindaian CPA (Closes Point Approach). Radar mutlak memerlukan sumber daya AC/DC

RDF; (Radio direction Finder) digunakan untuk menentukan arah sekaligus juga posisi kapal dengan menggunakan sistem baringan radio, saat sistem penentuan posisi lainnya tidak mampu menentukan posisi kapal. RDF sangat baik jika digunakan untuk menentukan haluan Homing dengan membaring radio pantai pelabuhan tujuan.
